Although CUAET special measures expired on March 31, 2024, Ukrainians who meet the following criteria are eligible to apply for an open work permit or a study permit to extend their status in Canada:

• Those who had their CUAET application approved before February 4, 2024 and;
• Those who arrived in Canada on or before March 31, 2024.

Applications must be submitted before March 31, 2025. Those wishing to apply for an extension of their study permit, or an extension of their stay as a visitor, must do so 30 days before their current status expires.
